Overview
VASE Construction, a growing and mission-driven Construction Management and General Contracting firm, is seeking a Junior Estimator / Project Engineer to support our Vice President & Chief Estimator, field teams, and company President on key projects.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure across estimating, project management, and executive-level operations. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to grow in both the preconstruction and construction phases of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing conceptual and detailed cost estimates from design through construction documents. 
- Perform quantity take-offs using digital estimating tools and spreadsheets. 
- Research pricing for labor, materials, and equipment; solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes. 
- Support bid submissions, RFP responses, and value-engineering exercises. 
- Review drawings, specifications, and addenda for scope accuracy. 
- Collaborate with the field and project management teams to align estimating with field conditions. 
- Assist the President and VP with project logistics, budgeting, and administrative follow-up. 
- Support project setup in Procore and maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, and cost events. 
- Participate in pre-bid walkthroughs, site visits, and subcontractor coordination meetings. 
- Manage or assist with smaller-scale projects under supervision. 
- Organize bid folders, estimating data, and cost history records. 
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent work experience). 
- 1–3 years of experience in estimating, project coordination, or field operations (internship experience acceptable). 
- Proficiency in Excel, Procore and digital takeoff software (On-Screen Takeoff or similar). 
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and trades. 
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills. 
- Self-starter with the ability to multitask and work both independently and collaboratively. 
- Experience with Procore, AIA billing, or project documentation a plus.

Position Summary
VASE Construction is seeking a Project Manager – Controls & Documentation to lead and standardize project accounting, documentation, and closeout processes across multiple projects. This role bridges the field and office by ensuring that PCOs, AIA requisitions, submittals, RFIs, schedules, and closeout packages are accurate, compliant, and submitted on time.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction professional with a strong command of project controls, documentation, and Procore. You will support project teams, mentor trade partners, and help create consistent workflows that strengthen how VASE delivers projects from start to finish.
NOTE: This is a highly involved management role requiring prior experience. Candidates should meet at least 90% of the key responsibilities and qualifications listed below. This is not a training position.
Key Responsibilities
- Change Management: Prepare and track PCOs/COs with full backup (labor, materials, unit rates, vendor quotes, cut sheets, sketches/markups). 
- Requisitions & Billing: Develop AIA G702/703 packages with all supporting documentation; conduct on-site “pencil” verifications to confirm progress. 
- Submittals & RFIs: Collect and review vendor data; cross-reference drawings and specs; log and track approvals; document cost and schedule implications. 
- Scheduling: Maintain weekly Two-Week Look-Ahead (2WLA) and update master schedule milestones as needed. 
- Manpower & Progress Tracking: Verify adequate resources for upcoming milestones and coordinate corrective actions as required. 
- Closeout: Lead closeout deliverables (punchlist, O&Ms, warranties, final waivers, as-builts, attic stock) to achieve timely project completion. 
- Standards & Process Improvement: Develop and implement standardized templates, checklists, and reporting cadences for all project teams and trade partners. 
- Compliance & Certified Payroll: Provide support to subcontractors to ensure timely, accurate certified payroll and compliance submissions. 
- Collaboration: Work closely with field staff, accounting, and senior leadership to streamline documentation flow and improve payment turnaround. 
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction project management, controls, or documentation (CM/GC environment preferred). 
- Proficiency in Procore, Excel, and AIA billing formats. 
- Strong knowledge of submittals, RFIs, PCOs, and closeout procedures. 
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively between field, accounting, and design teams. 
- Proven ability to lead subcontractors firmly and professionally, ensuring compliance with project standards and getting tasks done right the first time. 
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and deadlines. 
- Self-directed, accountable, and confident managing multiple active projects simultaneously.
