Position Summary
VASE Construction is seeking a highly motivated Estimator / Project Engineer to support preconstruction, estimating, business development, and project execution efforts across healthcare, municipal, multifamily, commercial, and institutional projects. This position serves as a bridge between estimating and operations, assisting with quantity take-offs, budgeting, subcontractor procurement, project documentation, scheduling, and field coordination. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technologically proficient, and capable of helping improve company systems, workflows, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while supporting VASE's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
Project Engineering & Construction Support
Attend site walks and pre-bid meetings.
Document existing conditions and take site photographs.
Perform quantity take-offs and verify pricing.
Prepare estimates for renovation and ground-up projects.
Assist with conceptual budgets, GMPs, and value engineering.
Solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid requirements.
Analyze subcontractor bids and scope coverage.
Prepare bid forms, proposals, and bid submissions.
Coordinate bonding requests and bid deliveries.
Maintain estimating databases and cost histories.
Business Development & Company Support
Identify and pursue new project opportunities, bids, RFPs, and RFQs.
Monitor bidding platforms and procurement websites.
Assist with proposals, qualifications packages, and project pursuits.
Participate in client meetings, networking, and business development efforts.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Support the improvement of company systems, technology platforms, workflows, and SOPs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferred.
3-7+ years of estimating, project engineering, or construction experience.
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
Experience with quantity take-offs, estimating, and cost analysis.
Experience with commercial, healthcare, municipal, educational, or multifamily projects preferred.
Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and estimating software.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Highly detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines.
Strong technology skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.
Ability to improve processes, workflows, and company SOPs.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
